I hope the footprints are on a beach when the tide’s coming in

I finished The Footprints of God by Greg Iles today. I should’ve known what it’d be like seeing Dan Brown’s endorsement on it. It sucked.

It’s about a group of scientists trying to create a supercomputer capable of having a conscience. It’s an easy, simplistic read with some quick blurbs about religion and science thrown in, such as:

"He’d recite three statements: ‘God is all powerful. God is all good. Evil exists.’ You can logically reconcile any two of those statements, but not all three."
   Rachel nodded thoughtfully.
"Fielding thought the Eastern religions were the only truly monotheistic ones, because they admit that evil flows from God, rather than trying to blame a lesser figure like Satan."

Blah, blah, blah. I have to quit buying bestsellers.

I’m reading Cod: A Biography of the Fish that Changed the World by Mark Kurlansky next.
