It shows what the American Sign Language word is for a lot of English words. <a href="http://www.theinterpretersfriend.com/">The Interpreter's Friend</a> has more than 10,000 words, but they're more specialized terms (rather than the ASL Browser's generic words), and the glossing system can be hard for non-signers to understand.
