Steel White Table

I moved my computer from the basement to our sunroom, making room for my wife’s quilting and craft projects. Now my computer monitor is facing an open area, such that I can’t, uh, compute discreetly. Researching entries to post on Steel White Table (Yeah, researching. Give me a break.) sometimes leads me to sites that could be considered porn, so I can’t research comfortably now knowing that someone can see what I’m doing.

So on that theme, here are some tips on how to browse the internet discreetly:

• In Windows, learn how to press Alt-Esc or Alt-Tab quickly (assuming there’s another program running at the same time).
• Use Boss! or a similar program that can hide open programs with a keystroke.
• Claim you’re doing research for Steel White Table.
• Or to hell with discretion and admit to yourself (and others) that you’re only doing what’s natural, and there’s no reason to be ashamed. Right.
