I’ve been using Microsoft Money since 1995 because it came free with Windows 95. I recently upgraded to Microsoft Money 2004 (version 12) from version 2. You read right. Version 2. Or maybe it was 3. Or 4. Anyway, it was a royal pain in the arse to upgrade, and I hope I never have to do it again. The obvious “benefits” of upgrading:
- Your data file will increase 100 times.
- The new version will take up 10 times the amount of memory and disk space.
- The new version is 20 times slower.
- The new version includes lots of new features you’ll never use but sound good on paper.
But it looks pretty.
