Folio Books

Every bibliophile knows about The Folio Society:

was founded in 1947, has become something of a literary institution. Editorial integrity and high production values combine to produce a unique collection of fine books, distinguished for their literary content, elegant design and handsome bindings.

Folio members are discerning readers and collectors of classic works, whether fiction or non-fiction.

They’re also suckers for attractive books that most people would never read. Well, okay - I have read most of my Folio books but not their editions of the books because they’re too damn nice; I usually read tattered paperback editions of the same book.

Folio’s books are expensive, too; but their books are not like Book-of-the-Month Club editions that have no resale value; Folio’s editions tend to be collectible. Their edition of The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco goes for $69.95 Canadian.
