Sequencing MP3s on a CD-R

Can anyone tell me how to sequence MP3s burned onto a CD-R?

I’ve MP3-encoded the 13-disc BBC audio recording of The Lord of the Rings so that it fits onto a single CD-R (good quality, too). The files are numbered “Disc-01-Track-01.mp3,” “Disc-01-Track-02.mp3,” “Disc-02-Track-01.mp3,” and so on, and the files of each disc are in separate directories, which are also numbered accordingly.

So why is it when I burned them onto a CD-R and play the CD back through my Walkman MP3 player, the files show up in a non-sequential order?

Usually the last track in the directory gets pushed to the front of the line. Then the first track comes second, and the order seems to go alright from there, though not always. This has happened before, and I went nuts trying to find a solution to the problem. This time, however, I can ask the readers of Steel White Table for help and maybe save myself some aggravation.

Thanks.

Normally these kind of MP3 players use the order in which the files are written to the directory, but not always.

Try copying the files over to the CDR one by one in the order you want them played?
