A Writing Story featuring Harlan Ellison

I was just checking out the Google Print project, whatever it’s called. They’re scanning books and putting them online. So I do a search for Harlan Ellison because I know how much he hates it when people reproduce his work without his permission. I haven’t come across any of his actual works yet, but I found this story about him from a book called Quit Your Day Job! How to Sleep Late, Do What You Enjoy, and Make a Ton of Money as a Writer. From time to time, Harlan Ellison sits with his typewriter behind a bookstore window and writes a story from scratch. That’s what this story is about.

The entire book seems to reproduced here.

I wonder what else I can find…

    That was an interesting read.

I was wrong. The entire book isn’t reproduced. It seems Google allows you to view only a few pages of any copyrighted material. Still, a useful service.

Ray Bradbury had this to say about Harlan Ellison.

I noticed Harlan Ellison is mentioned in a lot of writing books. A book about journal-writing.
