celtx Scriptwriter

Phillip posted this at 3:37 pm under phillip's room, reading & writing, software

CELTXFor the past few days I’ve been working on a script for a short film. It’s a script we might end up shooting in the film course I’m taking now. At first I was using a popular program called Final Draft to compose the script. But yesterday I was told about a program called celtx. It’s described as

a comprehensive software package designed for people who work in the Film, TV, Theatre and New Media industries. It combines full-feature scriptwriting with media rich pre-production support and enables online collaboration.

Final Draft and similar programs have many of the same features. But there’s a big difference here: CELTX IS FREE. Normally software like this would cost up to $1000. I don’t know how long they’ll be giving it away for nothing, but if you have any interest in this kind of thing, you might want to grab the free download while you can. I’m still exploring all the things it can do. It’s impressive.

CELTX is open source software — so I guess that means it’ll be free forever. Nice.

Thanks for the kind words in your post. I am fortunate to work for Celtx, and yes, the software will be free forever.
