Chinese Food on New Year’s Eve

Phillip posted this at 9:24 pm under food & drink, life

I dropped by a Chinese resturant earlier this evening for a quick noodle dish. While I was there, I couldn’t help but notice a large flow of customers dropping by for pick-up orders. Many of them walked out with huge armloads of bagged food. I’m wondering if ordering out for Chinese food specifically on new year’s eve is a common practice. So here’s a quick question you can answer in the comments if you like:

Did you order out for Chinese food on new year’s eve this year? (Yes or no.)

Yeah, a lot of people get it on new year’s eve or new year’s day. We just had the fiance’s family over for chinese food today. I have no idea where this tradition came from, in my family we always had turkey for every holiday in existence!

Holy shit, yes I did. If you were at that New City restaurant, just up the street from you, I probably just missed you or something. Man that waitress was hot. Please don’t tell my girlfriend I said that.

Pender, you still in St. John’s? I’m sick with a bad cold, and I don’t think seeing your beautiful mug would accelerate my recovery. But if you’re still here by the weekend, give me a call.
