A Review Of “Blood Memory” by Greg Iles
Blood Memory by Greg Iles
Rating:
(7/10)
I knew what to expect from this when I saw an endorsement by Dan Brown on the cover, and I was right; it’s a fast-reading thriller with plot twists and sometimes unbelievable coincidences. I would have rated this a 5 or 6 except that its main theme concerns sexual abuse, which also makes it painful and informative to read.
Blood Memory is about a woman involved in the investigation of serial murders, when she finds out her family is involved in some way, starting from when she was a child. The protagonist is believable; you want to find out her secrets as much as she does.
It’s a disturbing read, but if you’re unfamiliar with the horrors of sexual abuse, it’s a learning experience, although I wouldn’t read it again; it’s a thriller meant for a long airplane ride or similar break.
The author writes the following before the story begins:
This dedication is much more poignant after you finish the book.

I bought this one at an airport. That’s the only time I buy quick-read books like this.
