Mud Rushes In
The Whole Wheat Radio stream is down, so Mud Radio is up. To quote Esther:
HI EVERYBODY. JIM JUST CALLED ME HERE IN ANCHORAGE. OUR DSL MODEM IS FRIED. I’M PICKING UP A REPLACEMENT ON THE WAY HOME. HOPEFULLY WE’LL BE BACK UP LATER TODAY… PROBABLY 5 OR 6 HOURS FROM NOW. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
Webcasting on a low bandwidth, I’m playing non-RIAA Wheatish kind of stuff, and the mic might be on. For a few hours.
UPDATE (next day): Everything is back to normal. However, I might consider turning on the webcast again next Friday, same time, same place. It was a relaxing way to shut down the week.

Everytime I try this, I always fall into envy of Jim’s skill behind the mic.
Jim, if you’re out there, you might not be the best at this kind of thing (because who cares about being “the best,” right?), but man, you are real, real good. Really.
thank you, Phillip.
We had an average of 5 people tuned in for awhile (and peaked at 7). That’s a red letter day at Mud Radio.
I absolutely would listen. I enjoy the music and don’t be too hard on yourself; your skill behind the mic isn’t that bad. We have a community radio station here in Kansas City and if you want to hear unskilled DJ’s….well let’s just say you’re a superstar.
By the way, without going into details, I was having a particulaly bad day on Friday and when I tuned into Mud radio and you played that Danny Schmidt song, it helped a bunch!!! I will be looking forward to Friday.
ONE WEEK LATER: I’m sick with the flu. Otherwise, I probably would have turned on the webcast again this week. Until next Friday…
I’ll turn the webcast on again next Friday if I’m not busy. Yesterday I played music and got on the mic between songs for a couple hours, and I enjoyed it. Even if no one’s listening, I find it relaxing. So I’ll more than likely keep it up, once a week, just for myself. I recorded the stream yesterday for the 2 hours I was on the mic, then played the whole thing back on a continuous loop while I was out of the house (until the power went out). I’ll probably do that again, too, because even if it’s a live voice on tape, I prefer some semblance of a human touch over purely canned music.
Testing out the “Mud Radio is on the air” feature throughout the week.
Mud Radio is going to be on low-bandwidth autopilot today until I have to use the computer for something else.
