Wheat Seeds - Day 3

Phillip posted this at 10:09 pm under phillip's room, photos, wwr

WWR Wheat SeedsI ordered a CD from Danny Schmidt through Whole Wheat Radio last September. When the CD arrived in the mail and I opened the package, a bunch of little seeds fell out and scattered all over my kitchen floor. Not just any old seeds, though — wheat seeds from Whole Wheat Radio, seeds that may have actually been held by the hands of Esther and Jim. So I decided I would plant the seeds and create a time-lapse video of their growth. Then I forgot about it until three days ago. I planted the seeds in a tiny little pot on my window sill, not expecting much. But guess what? The seeds are growing. Well, one seed seems to be growing. Something’s poking out of the dirt. So…

Whenever I see new growth, I’ll take a picture and post it. I’ll create a time-lapse video once I have a full-fledged crop of wheat growing on my window sill. Not much to look at today, but the next update should be exciting. To the extreme.

UPDATE: The photos can be viewed individually here.

I’m trying to figure out which seed it is that appears to be growing. You can also make Wheat Berry Bread. I tried it once… not bad, but mine came out pretty dense.

The seeds are really starting to grow now. I’m too sick to post anything right now. Maybe over the weekend.

The wheat is growing every day. I’ve been taking pictures, but I’m still feeling too sick to post them. I post all the photos later this week if I have the time.

Wow Phillip, you are watching seeds grow. How fun :) I was thinking of painting my room later on in the day and then watching the piant dry. I think it’s quicker than watching seeds grow though.

Later on I plan to watch some slush melt.

The wheat is growing out of control. I doubt I’ll be able to make a time-lapse video out of the photos; I wouldn’t be able to keep the wheat inside the frame. Had I known it would grow so fast, I would have bolted the camera down into a solid stationary position and taken several photos a day. Even the past 6 days of growth would have made a good time-lapse video.

I’ve created a wheat video, but it might be a day or two before I have time to post it. Bet you can’t wait.
