A Video Recorder For Windows

Jody posted this at 9:34 pm under software

I recently discovered CamStudio, an impressive, free Windows program that…

is able to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files and using it’s built-in SWF Producer can turn those AVIs into lean, mean, bandwidth-friendly Streaming Flash videos (SWFs)

Here’s a short video I created of me starting to create this post. Nice. This is an excellent tool to help people learn tasks on a computer.

They’re hosted on SourceForge, so the source code (C++) is available as well.

(An unrelated note: I’ll have to email them about the use of “it’s” in the blurb above.)

This is a definite download for me. I’ll try to use it to record Milk Drop visualizations for WinAmp. Does it record sound too?

    Later…

“is able to record all screen and audio activity”

It can’t record WinAmp visualization well, but it’ll come in handy when you want to show me exactly how to do something.

This’ll be great for creating a guide to Whole Wheat Radio once version 4 is “finished.”

You’re about 3 years behind the times! I gave this to ron smith at work for recording himself during presentations so that the presentations could be played back for the slackers who skipped work that day.
