My daughter loves

the Fern Gully

It has a great message about saving our environment and about the strength of our creative energy. I wish there were more kids movies that had lessons like these, it makes it easier to feel good that she’s zoned out in front of a movie while i’m getting some things done!

Yeah, I heard them talking about the list on Sunday morning. Overall, it was pretty good, but The Dark Crystal? I loved it, but it’s a really scary movie for little kids, so its inclusion was puzzling.

To the list, I’d add The Princess Bride, The Muppet Movie, and Ever After.

I heard that list too. “Willow” was on it, as was “To Kill a Mocking Bird” and a few other serious films. The most serious movie on my list is “On Golden Pond.” They also included “The Dark Crystal” and “Cinema Paradiso” (of which there is a new version that is apaprently much better than the theatrical cut).

This morning on CBC Radio’s The Sunday Edition they coincidently had a feature about 10 movies every child before the age of 14 should see. I couldn’t find the list on their website (yet), but it included:
- My Neighbor Totoro (this was #1)
- Peter Pan
- The Adventures Of Robin Hood

I don’t remember the whole list. It didn’t include any of the ones Phillip listed above.

I would add The Secret Garden to their list.
