Amelia Curran’s Music

Phillip posted this at 7:51 pm under music & audio, phillip's room

AMELIA CURRANI saw Amelia Curran perform at a songwriters’ circle at the St. John’s Folk Festival yesterday (David Francey was there, too).

In a studio her quiet songs might be considered pop/folk. But sitting there with her guitar, she’s just real nice. Her website doesn’t have anything on it right now, but she’s got a MySpace page where you can listen to two songs from her latest CD.

Her voice is unobtrusive, almost as if she’s speaking to you, but melodic… You know, it’s kind of what Greg Brown does. He can speak right to you and carry a tune at the same time. I might not buy her CD just yet, but I’m thinking about it.

P.S., Greg Brown’s new album comes out tomorrow, and I’m getting it.

    Nice tunes.

    Pender: you’ll love it.
