Wasted Time Tracker

Phillip posted this at 3:49 pm under internet & computers, phillip's room

Take track of how much time you waste online by installing the FireFox add-on called TimeTracker. Like most FireFox add-ons, it takes about 3 seconds to download and not much more to install, and the default settings work just fine.

You can easily configure TimeTracker to filter out work-related sites, so you know exactly how much time you’ve wasted, and you can reset the counter anytime, or automatically have it reset everyday.

Since I installed the add-on — then installed FireFox 2, checked and responded to some emails and wrote this post — I’ve wasted exactly 33 minutes and 47 seconds. Nice to know.

If you’re reading this at work, install the add-on, then check back at the end of a full work day and see how much time you’ve wasted. This could be interesting.

Luckily, work has disabled my ability to install any programs on my workstation. Yes, I can delete every bit and byte from the 10 servers that I manage, but I can’t install a simple plugin on my own workstation. And therefore, I can’t track how much time I am wasting either. What a shame. I guess I’ll never know.

(I’m sure my counter would remain less than five minutes a day anyways, so why bother with such trivial nonsense?)
