Ebert and the Chimp

I don’t watch TV, and I can’t be bothered watching shows or movies on a computer screen. But the Ebert & Roeper website has recently undergone a face-lift that allows you to watch every individual movie review from all their latest shows — with no advertisements (at least when viewed through FireFox).

I don’t mind watching reviews on my computer screen because it only takes a few minutes, and it can be informative. I can think of worse ways to kill time.

(Not a bad use of Flash either.)

I hate the new Ebert & Roper website. I used that site everyday. Every time I wanted to watch a movie, I’d look and see what they thought. Their opinion determined whether I would watch the movie or not. Now, I can’t even find a search option for the movies that I want to watch!!! What is going on? Bad, bad, bad “upgrade”!!!!

The site doesn’t need a search option. All the reviews are listed alphabetically in the “Past Reviews” window. Once you click the review, you’re automatically directed to another movie that was released during the same week; that’s very convenient. I’m not sure what the old site looked like, because I only had the audio reviews page linked, but being able to actually watch the reviews has to be a huge improvement.

I like the upgrade. There previous site, I found was bad design. I agree with Phillip, good use of Flash on this one.
