Roll Up the Rim To Win (But Probably Lose)

Jody posted this at 2:32 pm under canada, consumer

As EVERY Canadian knows, Roll Up The Rim To Win is Tim Hortons’ annual contest that features their red and yellow cups labeled with prizes you can win. You peel back the rim to see if you have “WIN DONUT” or if you have to “PLEASE PLAY AGAIN / RÉSSAYEZ S.V.P. ©”

I’m going to try to keep track of my losing. I usually buy two cups of coffee a day. It’ll probably be three now.

Jody’s Roll Up The Rim To Win Statistics (Updated Mar. 13, 2007)

  • Number of wins: 2
  • Numbers of loses: 21
  • Total: 23

Percentage of wins: 9%

What I won

Total amount spent: $33.81
Value of amount won: $2.94

I’ve posted about the contest before, which was so popular (i.e. the post) that it received so many stupid comments that I had to shut that function off.

Update (March 13, 2007): I stopped buying Tim Hortons’ coffee. Money’s a bit tight around the house now, so I’m drinking the sludge provided for free at work instead. No more irregular updates to this post, if any at all.

I just bought my first cup (medium double cream). Sitting here at work drinking it now (3:46pm) with my cherry cheese danish. Will report back in a few minutes with the results.

There are entirely too many R’s in rrroll. It barely rolls. In fact, isn’t this more of an unrolling or perhaps unfurling process? “Unfurrrl the rim to lose” copyright Pender.

The last time I found a straight rim and rolled it I totally didn’t win. In fact, I got someone elses spit all over my fingers. It was quite disgusting. I mean, what if the person had mono? I think tim hortons is trying to give me mono!

I usually make a cup of coffee from freshly ground beans every morning. I was too lazy to grind any coffee this morning, so I used some left over grounds that I keep in the fridge. It’s a mixture of leftovers: pre-ground President’s choice stuff, grounds that lost their freshness or just didn’t do it for it. I toss it all in the container in the fridge. I normally use it for espressos, which I drink mostly for the jolt. Anyway, I made my regular coffee this morning from this old leftover stuff that’s been sitting in my fridge for months, many months. It tastes like Tim Hortons coffee. It’s the closest thing to Tim Hortons I’ve tasted outside of Tim Hortons. This must be their secret. They use old left over coffee grounds. Interesting.
