Facebook Filter

Phillip posted this at 7:23 am under annoyances, internet & computers, phillip's room

I had created a filter to delete all the “I’ve added you as a friend on Facebook” emails I’ve been getting lately. Pender wrote a review:

Where myspace looks like it’s tailored for 10-14 year olds, Facebook seems like it’s tailored for the aging 20+ crowd. In 2 days on facebook I’ve linked up with 13 friends, effortlessly. On myspace I spent about 5 hours looking for people and ended up with 6 people… The only thing that scares me about Facebook is that it has this feature that allows you to give it your username and password TO YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT and it will log into your email, get the contact list then automatically tell you if anyone on your contact list is on Facebook and link you up. If it’s one thing I know it’s that you shouldn’t give away your email AND PASSWORD to evil corporations. This one doesn’t seem evil, yet, but it will get there.

I’m not signing up. It’s bad enough I already have a MySpace page.

UPDATE: Funny. Jody and I posted about the same thing at the same time. That’s pathetic.

That is pretty pathetic. In any case, I signed up for Facebook a couple of years ago after hearing my brother rave about it. I signed up for my schools, and in some cases, I was the only one of my year listed. I felt like I was “the old man” on the playground — a pedophile. I quit using it. Are “older people” actually using it now?

Holy shit, double Steelwhitetabled! Dreamhosters won’t be able to handle all the bandwidth my site will be getting today!

I’ve linked up with 2 people so far that I had fallen out of contact with and wanted to talk to again. So in that regard it’s already paid for itself! (it’s free, except my valuable time)

Tom, I wish I was you.

Since I got into this whole internet thing, my head has been filled with more junk that it ever was. Useless junk.

    Down with the internet!
