Cheap C To D Battery Convertor

Jody posted this at 10:44 am under what i learned today

Quick hack: The $1 C-to-D adapter:

You want to power your gizmo that runs on D cells, but all that you have handy are C cells… you can solve this problem by using the C cell and making up the battery length difference with a few quarters– typically three or four.

I haven’t tried it. Will the voltage difference screw up the electronic device? I’d give it a go, though.

I have a plastic device that you can slide AA batteries into and then place them into a C device slot. I actually got the plastic pieces from the RC toy itself. The company didn’t want to provide the C batteries, so they came up with a cheaper alternative.

I don’t know about Cs and Ds but I think AAs and AAAs are the same, or very similar, voltage (1.2–1.5v).
