Greenhouse Tomato Slideshow

Phillip posted this at 10:26 am under gardening, phillip's room, photos

I’m testing out the Picasa Web Album slideshow feature. Let me know if this doesn’t work. Hover the mouse over a photo for more features like captions (I think).

These tomatoes (from last year) began as small transplants that I put out in the greenhouse during the day and brought back in at night for about two weeks, always leaving the door to the greenhouse open if it was really sunny. I then put them in big buckets and left them in the greenhouse and fed them some kind of tomato plant food every two weeks, watering (soaking the soil) only when the soil was dry so the plants would suck up more of the special tomato plant food. Some people move their plants outdoors completely, but we have span worms around here, and I’d rather not see my tomatoes covered with worms. These tomatoes probably would have ripened better had I pruned them properly. Gotta say, though, the pickled green tomatoes are fantastic. My gardening skills a minimal, but I thoroughly enjoyed growing and tending to these tomatoes.

Some of the photos displayed here are kind of blocky. The original photos on my Picasa page are fine, though, and much larger.

That was somehow thoroughly entertaining. I’ve never before been more interested in tomatoes.. I barely even eat tomatoes but I want to do that too.
