On Vacation
I’m gone fishing. No internet. No cell phones. No TVs. No electricity.
I’ll be back around August 20 or 21 at the latest.
In the meantime, I’m sure Jody will provide you with everything you’ve come to expect from Steel White Table. Nothing. I’ll have plenty of nature photos to post when I come back, though, and I’ll check in on my tomato plants too. My Big Beef tomato plants are taller than me now. I’m excited (as I know you are) to see how they’ll look in 9 days. Be nice to each other while I’m gone.
UPDATE (Aug. 15/07): The forecast before we left called for mostly sunny skies with two days of intermittent showers. Now that we’ve arrived, it’s the opposite of that: rain and more rain and maybe some sunny breaks on Saturday, and then more rain. So we’re packing our bags and headed home early. It’s been a real character-building trip.

Should be “…you’ve come to expect from Steel White Table: nothing.” Note the colon.
You’re welcome.

No it shouldn’t. The way it’s written now leaves it up to the reader to decide what nothing refers to. Nothing could be what you will provide. Or it could be what’s expected from your loyal reader(s). The two are not necessarily the same. Hence, the way it’s written leaves it open to interpretatoin. It’s brilliant when you think about it. And stupid if you think about it for more than two seconds or for the time it’s taken me to write this comment.
Ha ha. Right.
Aren’t you on vacation?
So far I’ve been camping in the rain. Gros Morne is almost too big. You have to drive 30 minutes to get from one place to another within the park. Hard to sing its praises at the moment because of the crappy weather. The weather forecast from Environment Canada says rain for the rest of the week, but the Weather Network says sunshine. At any rate, we’re in Corner Brook now at this place. We’re staying the night and heading back to Gros Morne tomorrow. But if the weather hasn’t improved, we might just go home. Haven’t decided yet. We’ve spent most of our time driving so far. I plan to enjoy our stay at his inn. If I don’t drop by again later this week, it should mean the weather is good and I’m finally gone fishing as planned.
Have you been nice to each other?
Corner Brook smells.
Tommyboy, how did your camping trip go?
