Who are you voting for?

Phillip posted this at 4:41 pm under canada

We’re having a general election in Canada on October 14th, 2008. I have a few questions:

1) If you’re Canadian, what party are you voting for?

2) Why are you voting for that party?

3) If you’re not Canadian but you follow Canadian politics (which is likely no one), of the 5 political party leaders, who would you vote for, and why?

4) Back to Canadians: From the 5 party leaders listed below, from best to worst, who do you think would be less likely to do the most damage if they were Prime Minster?

I know these aren’t the most probing questions. I’m not expecting many responses. But what the hell. We have a blog here. We might as well use it.

Green Party: Elizabeth May.
New Democratic Party (NDP): Jack Layton.
Bloc Quebecois: Gilles Dueceppe.
Liberal: Stéphane Dion.
Conservative: Stephen Harper.

I haven’t provided direct links to any of the party web sites. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t vote for any of them if I visited their web sites or saw any of their campaign ads on TV. I get most of my news from CBC Radio and CBC.ca.

    voting green

voting for the individual not the party so much..but this is a conservative stronghold so our sitting member will most likely be returned.

I dont think Dion will do the most damage….Dion would be okay…but appears tha ole Bush….I mean Harper will be re-elected…I am still cranky about the GST…consumption taxes are far better…should never have dropped GST 2 points…pure politics…

but Gilles as prime minster would be interesting..

I’ll decide after the debate (When is that? Did I miss it?), or at the polling station.
But the Liberal candidate actually showed up at the door, so that earned her a couple of points on my decision card.

And question #3 cracked me up. ;-)

We spent 4 days in the Radisson just blocks from Parliment Hill this weekend. Elizabeth May has very nice campaign workers. Our bartender liked her.

    1. Ugh. I’m not impressed with any of the leaders/parties, but I’m voting Liberal.
    2. I’d vote NDP, but the candidate here doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell, and I don’t want the Tories to win here, so I’ll vote for the incumbent Liberal.
    3. NA
    4. Least amount of damage? Jack Layton. Harper’s a control freak, Dion’s a wimp, Duceppe is a one-trick pony, and May only has one plank in her platform (sorry tommy!)
