BSG Jumping the Shark?

I haven’t watched last night’s episode of Battlestar Galactica yet, but if it’s anything like the previous two episodes, I would guess that it’s underwhemling. If the writers stay true to form, only the last two episodes of the season (and the series) will be worth watching. Just about everything until then will be inconsequential. I’ve enjoyed BSG, but it would have been a much stronger series if they’d built the storyline around 2, maybe 3 seasons. Season 4 has long gone past the best-before date. It’s beginning to stink.

Got any fraking thoughts on that?

I agree. It’s gone from a riveting Sci-Fi program to a whiny soap opera.

I hate it when they do that stuff.

I’d like to see a Star Trek Academy based show. It would give the opportunity to have episodes in any Trek timeline from the beginning of the Academy to Kirks time to something FAR in to the future featuring the Time Corps. It would allow new young (read sexy) faces to come and go and guest spots by any of the beloved characters form shows past.

Sadly I can see how they’d turn in into Star Trek 90210 and focus on who is sleeping with who and alien babies blah blah blah.

I agree it’s not as action-oriented as it once was, but it still has me hooked. The repetitive character conflicts are tiresome, and the convoluted plot is exasperating, but it’s still the best frackin’ TV show out there, although I’m biased about that: it’s the only one I watch.

This past week’s episode wasn’t too bad, but when you step from it for a minute, it’s easy to ask, “Who cares?” I’m not sure what else they can do with the story. At this point I’m not too concerned about the identity of the fifth Cylon.

  4. jody says:

The 5th cylon was reveled in the first episode of the season.

  5. Phillip says:

But was it REALLY the fifth Cyclon or speculation? We haven’t seen that character since the supposed big reveal. And the opening credits still say a fifth cylon will “be revealed” (I think so).

  6. Phillip says:

This week’s episode was intense. They really know how to crank it up at times.

  7. Rebecca says:

Based on the preview for next week’s ep, it looks like the fifth cylon is coming back.

  8. Phillip says:

…it looks like the fifth cylon is coming back.

The colonel’s wife? I wasn’t sure she was the 5th. Hmph.

    I think they’re all Cylons.

  9. Phillip says:

    The shark as been jumped.
