“District 9″ Isn’t Stupid

So by default, it’s better than about 95% of what passes for science fiction in movies today. If the following promo peaks your interest, you’ll probably enjoy District 9. It’s not a masterpiece, but I’ve never seen or experienced anything quite like it.

I would caution that District 9 is not for everyone. The ending isn’t a complete downer, but everything leading up to it is brutal, dark and bleak. It’s an assault, one that’s not always easy to bear.

It’s gross-out violent, too; gross like The Fly was gross. Lots of violence.

    But it’s good!

“District 9″ has its gross moments (I’m glad those moments were brief), but it’s more shocking than gross-out for the sake of grossing you out like “The Fly.”

I can see the story of “District 9″ spanning over a trilogy. I’d watch it.

there is something about segregation, apartied, and south africa that just feel so right…great setting for the movie….very disturbing in very subtle and unsubtle ways…the first half is great…and buddy who plays the main character is great….I mean great…you like him but you don’t…ya it was entertaining….I kept thinking of enemy mine with lou gosset junior for some reason….
