R.I.P. Extra Old Stock

I just heard that Molson has stopped making Extra Old Stock beer. It used to be a favourite of under-age drinkers in Newfoundland because of it’s slightly higher alcohol content (6%). But not any more. Molson had to kill it because it’s no longer profitable. This will be a sad day for many Newfoundlanders. I know how attached some people are to their beer. Whatever remaining stock is likely to be sold out before the end of the month, so get it while you can. The Molson brewery in St. John’s, Newfoundland, was the last place in Canada to brew Extra Old Stock.

  1. I don’t think you have your facts right . I live in BC and we still have extra old stock and it’s now 2011. As a matter of fact I’m drinking a can of EOS right now :) My only regret is that very few stores here sell it in bottles .

    • I guess I don’t have my facts right. All I did was repeat what was reported in the local news at the time, that Old Stock was being discontinued. I remember people scrambling to buy up the last cases of it around town. Maybe it’s back by popular demand. I don’t know. I never drink the stuff and haven’t heard anything since.

We should get my brother on the case and have him send Molson an email. He’s our local email consumer watchdog.
