A Sandwich

I made the best EVER sandwich for lunch today. So good I had to post about it.

  • Toasted multi-grain bagel with butter.
  • Horseradish mayonnaise
  • Wiltshire bacon
  • lettuce
  • tomatoes
  • onion
  • sauerkraut
  • mozzarella cheese

Washed down with a fine lager.

I should’ve taken a damn photo.

    I never had sauerkraut on a sandwich before. I bought it recently for hot dogs so I decided to try it on the sandwich. Was awesome!

    People sure are critical of the sandwich over at Jay Dawg’s bloggy thing, though I can understand looking at some of the ingredients and thinking, “What the…?” If you made me the sandwich, I’d eat it and probably enjoy it. But at home I’d have a hard time making it because some of the ingredients aren’t common to our house. Bagels — we don’t eat ‘em. My home made bread is king. Anything with horseradish is out, though we do have Dijon mustard — I like it on my BBQed sausages. Sauerkraut — I’ve never thought of buying it and wouldn’t know where to look for it. I guess you’d buy for putting on hot dogs? My home made green tomato chutney can’t be beat for that. And where do you get Wiltshire bacon?

    I never bought sauerkraut before, but I saw it in the meat section (near the sausages in a small milk carton-like container) so I thought “What the hell”. I remember Dad having occasionally on his hot dogs. It’s good! I don’t know what compelled me to try it on a sandwich.

    Wilshire bacon is a new President’s Choice product. Expensive, but I wanted to try it. I’ll never get it a again; regular pork is fine. It’s good though.

    Made a sandwich with sauerkraut today! Since it’s sitting there in the fridge I figured what-the-hell, might as well use it. The sandwich was excellent!
    - focaccia bread
    - mayonnaise
    - mustard
    - onions (I love onions)
    - salami
    - ham
    - lettuce
    - tomatoes
    - sauerkraut
    - ground pepper
