The information presented here will be of interest to those who wish to live more simply and self-sufficiently.

An average household spends $5000 on utilities and gas per year. Incorporating these tools and techniques can dramatically decrease your dependence on petroleum, electricity, gas for heating and cooling, municipal water and sewage utilities. I replaced every incandecent light in my house with those new energy saver bulbs. It’s difficult to tell how much I’m saving in electricity right now because the weather is beginning to get nice, so we’re using less heat in the house. After a full year, I should be able to see the difference. I spent about $75 replacing 30 bulbs.

I think I’ll recoup my expenses within two years, even though the box suggests it’ll happen within the first year.
