Danny Schmidt WWR House Concert

Danny Schmidt wiping his noseDanny Schmidt (once he’s done wiping his nose) will be playing at Whole Wheat Radio this Saturday, September 17th, 11:00pm Eastern Time.

I suppose he’ll be hanging around the next day or two for morning-after interviews and goofing around. Stay tuned to Whole Wheat Radio for more details. It’s gonna be good.

1:45am: Woooooo! I am loving this house concert! Just started the second set. At first I thought, hmm, these songs don’t sound exactly like I thought they would. But now Danny is reading this WWR audience so perfectly, he’s got me under his spell. This is fantastic! And now he’s playing “Already Done.” Oh, jeez, I’m gonna cry…

9:05am: The show ended around 3:00am. I was singing along to half the songs in the second set. I was hoping to stay awake to see if anything happened afterwards, but I lost consciousness about 15 minutes after the last song. I know I was on the other side of the continent, but it was so intimate, I felt like I was there. An amazing live experience.

    Here’s what Esther, at Whole Wheat Radio, had to say about Danny Schdmit:

    This is kinda neat: Last winter, Phillip Cairns, a Whole Wheat Radio listener, discovered the music of Danny Schmidt. He got really excited, and emailed us about him, and sent up some of his songs. He also emailed Danny, who shortly thereafter emailed us. “I think I know you guys!” he said, after seeing our picture. We did indeed know each other from East Wind Community over 10 years ago. What a pleasant surprise! Back then, Danny was a handsome young guitarist with evident talent, making hammocks, nut butters, gardening, and pickin’ every moment he could. I remember telling Jim that Danny was my favorite musician to jam with — that he was truly a sensitive player.

    It delighted us to find out that Danny has made a successful career from his musical talents. Now based in Austin, he’s recorded 3 independent CDs. What a way with words he has… you just have to come to the Wheathole and bathe in his poetic song-stories. He’s a nice guy, too, with a great sense of humor, and single! (Ha ha — that’s for the Talkeetna girls…)

    I think it’s going to be a wonderfully mellow, intimate evening with Danny Schmidt — we’re all going to leave with diamonds in our eyes… I hope you can come out…
