It’s that time of year again, everybody. It’s time for us to put aside our differences and write a story together. Instead of writing 5 words each like we did last time, everyone gets to add a full sentence. There are no restrictions to the length of the sentence. Do whatever works. Just keep it [...]

For the past two weeks I’ve been cooking fish about every other day on my gas BBQ using a cedar plank to smoke the fish. (See my previous post: Homemade Smoked Salmon.) You heat up the BBQ, place the plank on the grill, give it 5 minutes to heat up, put the fish on the [...]

J-Walk posted an item about an 8 Dollar Fruit. It reminded me of the watermelon in Labrador with the $55 price tag. Apparently it was a pricing error.
The [store] manager said that despite the price tag, the melon’s actual price should have been $38.
Would you pay $38 for this watermelon?

Hey everybody. I’m goofing off today. So naturally I decided to re-design my Mud Songs web site. There isn’t much to see, but come on over when you get bored. It’s a work in progress.

I’ve been too busy working and settling into a new house to watch many movies this summer. Here’s what I’ve seen, though, in order of enjoyment.
The Dark Knight — A dark and twisted Batman movie made for adults, finally.
WALL-E — Proof that Pixar could make an excellent adult science fiction film someday.
The [...]

Jenny picked up a cedar plank from the grocery store today. (Yup, it’s just a piece of wood.) We were supposed to soak it for 4 hours, but we didn’t have time. We soaked it in boiling water for about 2 hours instead. We heated up our $89 Canadian Tire gas BBQ to — well, [...]

I saw a silly 3-D movie tonight and afterwards took a bunch of pictures of myself wearing the glasses in various poses. These are the banjo poses. Most of them are blurry. Not much to see really.
I did some other poses that are funny. I might post them later. No much time for blogging when [...]

3:51pm. I’m moving today. I’ve got myself a Uhaul cargo van out front. I just began filling it up with the large items, mostly bookcases. There’s still a lot of junk left.
Jenny and I made the final inspection of the new house this morning and now we’re waiting for our lawyer to call and tell [...]

This is the most useful — definitely the most used — teenie-weenie application on my PC: Volumouse.
I use it to change the volume on my PC without having to click anything. I use it to change the Master Volume and the Wave volume, but it can be easily configured to change the volume of anything [...]

NoSquint is one of my favourite Firefox add-ons because it makes at least half the sites I visit on a regular basis easier to read by making everything on the site bigger — the text and the images, and it does so without messing up the design of the site because proportions are maintained. Here’s [...]

For the past month or so, I’ve been playing chess online through a Facebook application. I don’t care for Facebook, but the chess is fun. I’m not a great chess player. I’ve been getting lessons from a program called Chess Master. Learning some basic moves has greatly improved my game. I’m actually winning games (though [...]

I’ve been sick with a cold for the past few days. It began with a sore throat Sunday morning and by Sunday night I knew I was a goner. I stayed in bed, drank lots of fluids and took a bunch of vitamin C. The sore throat was gone by Monday, but then everything else [...]

Duel — A big ominous ugly truck comes barrelling down the highway and makes life difficult for a lonely businessman in a car on his way to a meeting. It’s like Jaws on wheels. Directed for TV by Steven Speilberg in 1971, this 90-minute theatrical cut is nothing but entertainment. There’s no moral to [...]

I’m not fond of loud crowded pubs, but Old Man Luedecke is playing at The Ship tonight, so I’m going to give it a go. Not once in my life have I seen anyone play a banjo. It’s just something I’ve never been exposed to. I got a banjo last year for my birthday but [...]
