…we came up with the idea of hiring an investigative reporter to work in the industry and experience, firsthand, the life of a car salesman.

We hired Chandler Phillips, a veteran journalist, to go undercover by working at two new car dealerships in the Los Angeles area. First, he would work at a high-volume, high-pressure dealership selling Japanese cars. Then, he’d change over to a smaller car lot that sold domestic cars at “no haggle” prices.

  1. i read that whole article a while back. all it does is make me very angry when i go to my car dealership now. :(

  2. Car Dealers are so crooked they are really borderline criminals.

    When ever I go to look at a car I go on sunday when the dealerships is closed. It’s great I can look at the cars and not have to deal with the dealer.

  3. the 86 jetta is on its last legs..good thing I was just given a 2001 emasculator…I mean windstar van….yup gotta love affluent and generous brother in laws…
