The Lone Phone Booth

A tale about a journey to a phone booth. Their mission – to hang it up:

Located deep in the heart of the Mojave Desert, 75 miles southwest of Vegas, 15 miles from the nearest highway, stuck out in the middle of nowhere like an afterthought’s afterthought. What was it doing here? More importantly, what were we doing here?

They wanted to find out why it was busy when they called it at 2am:

That took all the fun out of it. What good is a phone booth in the middle of the desert if you can’t call it just to hear it ring in the middle of the night? That phone being busy brought me down a little bit, kind of depressed me some.
