  1. This is for the one person who might be interested (Jody), but probably not. I took a listen to this NPR show co-hosted by Daniel Lanois:

He spoke about some of his music and played a handful of tracks from artists who influenced him. He played a song by Sly and The Family Stone and I could immediately see how Black Dub channelled some of the heavy bass and funk from them. So I got hold of some Sly and the Family Stone music. These guys know how to lay down a groove. It’s from the early ’70s. I wish I’d been exposed to more cool music like this when I was a kid instead of mostly the generic white rock and roll of the Beatles and the Stones. Anyway, the album “Fresh” seems like a good place to start for listening to Sly et al. Get down with the funk, man.
