Rules Of The Road

I’m taking a Motorcycle Safety course this weekend, hopefully getting my license when the course is over. I have to pass a written examination on the traffic laws before the course starts. Here are some interesting tidbits from the New Brunswick Driver’s Handbook:

  • Remember that pedestrians are extremely vulnerable to death or injury in a collision with a motor vehicle.
  • The only contact your car has with the highway is through the tires…
  • Horseback riders and drivers of horse drawn vehicles are permitted to use streets and roadways unless restricted by signs.

The following is one of the rules for Passing another vehicle:

As required by law, sound your horn when you reach the rear of the vehicle you are overtaking.

In my 20 years of driving I’ve never done that nor heard anyone do it.
