1. What I Did Today, by Jody Cairns, Sunday, Septempber 19th, 2004, 11:36am.

I’m here on the 10th floor of a Holiday Inn; lovely view of North York, I think it’s called. I’m about 20 minutes north of downtown Toronto. I flew on West-Jet, and their service was excellent: the employees were jovial and friendly, and the captain spoke occasionally, pointing out landmarks to view and the plane’s status (800 km/h at its fastest). Everything was on time — even early, I think.

In Toronto, I didn’t know how to get out of the damn terminal; I had to ask someone. Then I rented a car where I almost got a Mustang but some bastard ahead snagged it, so I got a Focus station wagon instead.

Leaving the airport was chaotic; I’m more comfortable driving in Detroit. There was a mess of highways and exits. I happened to remember the exits, though, so I found the hotel with no trouble. I went to a Burger King first, then checked-in here.

I’m going to try to remember to take pictures on this trip.

I wonder if everything’s open today?

[From an email Jody sent me.]
