Messing with Some Honeybees

I had to change up some feeders on my honeybee hives yesterday. This is what it looked like:

I’ve posted more photos and a video on Mud Songs since I got the bees last week. You get to see me walking around in my bee suit for real. Powerful stuff.

NOTE: Other miscellaneous beekeeping photos will gradually show up in this slide show.

  1. Dear Mr. Phillip,

Do you have any leads on what is happening to the honey bees in general, why there are so few around in the last few years?

I saw 2 bees so far this entire year. I remember as a kid they were everywhere.

    Your bestest buddy,

  2. ohhh he will tell you some story about..colony collapse…pesticides, microwaves and stressed bees…but I tells ya…its the old peanut butter…bees is allergic to old peanut butter….it is the source of all evil…peanut butter….

just think in the fall when I jump off coucil and have all this time on my hands to do nothing but lurk here…..

  3. What Tommyboy said. It’s the peanut butter that’s killing the bees. That and mono-culture (e.g. miles and miles of nothing but corn) — a lack of biodiversity. Pesticides on crops and non-sustainable beekeeping practices such as loading the bees up with antibiotics — all the industrialized practices that rely on chemicals.
