My Supper

I had swordfish tonight and it was excellent. I hope it’s not an endangered species. I marinated it for about 30 minutes in olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper and chilli pepper seeds for an extra zing. I fried it in the marinate on a medium heat, 6 minutes for each side of the steak. I served it with beet greens, couscous, and mussels.

I prepared the mussels by throwing some olive oil, garlic and chilli pepper seeds in a small pot on a medium heat. Just before the garlic burned, I dumped in some red wine. (Apparently white wine is the way to go, but we didn’t have any and except for changing the colour of the mussels slightly, it worked out fine.) Then I dumped in the mussels and cranked up the heat until it came to a boil. Then I put it on simmer for about 10 minutes and removed it from the heat.

The meal could have been a disaster, but it was all delicious. I love it when that happens.

What did you have for supper tonight?

  1. I had some meatpie that was in my freezer. It had been vacuum-sealed, so it was still good. It’s the kind of meatpie my mom’s father’s family makes (us crazy French people, with our fifteen different kinds of meatpie/tortier) – it’s made with stewing beef. (As opposed to the kind my dad’s family makes, which is chicken and pork)

  2. My wife and I went to Doc Dylan’s. We had a coupon and used it to get a couple of appetizers. Some ribs and something they called “The Big Kahuna”… a whole boatload of deep-fried finger food.

    We thoroughly enjoyed it.

  3. I had a date sgaure and chocolate milk….was travelling yesterday..
