Your Number One Hit Song

Find out what the number one hit song was when you were born (if you were born after 1955 for the U.S). Mine was (Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. That’s cool. The number one hit in the U.K. was The Legend Of Xanadu by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Tich. Yeah, I never heard of it either.

  1. Olivia Newton John had a song called Xanadu as well. Webster defines it as: an idyllic, exotic, or luxurious place.

  2. Funny…. Mine were “So Happy Together” by the Turtles and “Please Release Me” by Englebert Humperdink.

  3. The word “Xanadu” was made famous by Samuel Coleridge poem Kubla Khan, with its well known opening lines:

    In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
    A stately pleasure-dome decree

Ya bunch of heathens. Rush got their inspiration for Xanadu from that, I think.

  4. US: Stayin’ Alive by The Bee Gees
    Oh man, that rocks!

Engliland: Take A Chance On Me by Abba
    Holy shit! Wicked!
